3 - Conversion

Converting lengthes with the metric system

To convert lengthes you first have to know the following table with te different units of measure. From the biggest to the smallest, kilometer (km), hectometer (hm), decameter (dam), meter (m), decimeter (dm), centimeter (cm), millimeter (mm). In 1 km there are 10 hm, in 1 hm there are 10 dam, ...
tableau de conversion
Then you place the number to convert in the table writing the last figure in the column that corresponds to the unit of measure in which it is written. For example if you have to convert 1673 dm, you write 1673 in the table writing carefully the number 3 in the column of dm.
convertir des longueurs
Next, if you have to get centimeters or millimeters you complete the missing columns with zeros and you write the result from the column you need. This way you get 1673 dm = 16730 cm.
If you have to get kilometers, then you place a zero and a point in the column of kilometers, and if need be, zeros in the next columns to the number you wrote. You read the number from the column of kilometers. This way you get 1673 dm = 0,1673 km.
conversion de longueurs
You can do the same to convert masses or other units.

Convert areas

To convert areas you can do the same but you have to write units every two columns only.
conversion d aires
So we have, 3240 mē = 0,00324 kmē = 324000 dmē.
